Program

Neil came to Huế carrying the idea to build a Southeast Asia–specific electronic soundscape over the long term using General MIDI. Within the first week, with production support, Neil collected various types of karaoke machines, speakers, old music compilations and DVDs, drawing inspiration to create a small sound studio at AirHue. His residency was also marked by a field trip to shoot footage for his work and the presence of guest collaborator Vũ Hà Anh. At the end of his residency, Neil held a intimate sharing session about his working process and final result—a karaoke DVD featuring five songs accompanied by visuals. Hà Anh also performed during that session. The work is currently stored and on display at AirHue.
